A Feasibility Study for Creating a System of Subspecialities or Grading in the Medical Technology Profession(¥°)

Abstract

|
The Purpose or this study is to survey the members of the medical technology profession as to their opinion regarding the institution of a system of subspecialties or a grading system as a method of improving testing techniques and for more efficient manpower control in the profession.
The study was carried out from July 10 to September 10, 1986, using an openended questionnaire. Replies received from 492 out of 762 questionnaired sent were collected and analysed using two-way cross tabulation.
The results were as follows
1 . A total of 84.6% of the sampled persons responded positively to the suggestion of a subspecialty or a grading system for use on the medical technology profession.
2 . Two-way cross tabulation analysis showed that males responded more positively than females and technologists working in hospitals responded more positively than those in general hospitals (p < 0. 05).
